Obituary of Jean Harshaw Lesko

Jean Harshaw Lesko, age 98, passed away on December 21, 2015. She spent most of her adult life in Abington, Pa. She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Theodore A. Lesko, her three children, Deborah (Lamar) Underwood, Theodore D. and James (Mary Lee), four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Born in Aldan, PA she graduated from Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland and did post-graduate work at Columbia University, University of Pennsylvania and Pennsylvania State University. While in college she played on the men's tennis team and was subsequently named to the Washington College Athletic Hall of Fame. After graduation from college, she taught high school English, Latin and French. She stopped teaching after getting married and devoted herself to being a homemaker and raising her three children. She was a member of Abington Presbyterian Church for over 65 years and was active in community affairs, serving as president of the Highland Elementary School PTA. She belonged to Manufacturers' Golf and Country Club and enjoyed playing duplicate bridge. She was also an avid reader. Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 16, 2016, Abington Presbyterian Church, 1082 Old York Road, Abington, where relatives and friends will be received after the service. Interment in Northwood Cemetery was private.
