John Nolan, IV

Obituary of John Joseph Peter Tyler Nolan, IV

Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Pete Nolan, age 42, passed away from his loving family and friends on October 2, 2014 after a 15-month committed fight against brain cancer. He was the beloved and loving husband of Kelly Bailey-Nolan, an Abington Hospital ER nurse, who became his wife on May 1, 2014. Pete was the treasured, respectful son of his mother, Arlene Walsh and father, John J. Nolan, III. He was a devoted pet owner who made a home for dog, Fonzi, cats, Junior, Caesar, Pogo and Bright Eyes, and Chinchilla, Chi-Chi. An invaluable friend to many, he listened and helped anyway he could. As a clinical assistant in the Abington Hospital ER, he was courteous, dependable and diligent, comforting his patients and maintaining their dignity. Pete was defined by his love and protection of the animal world and was a strict vegetarian since his mid-teens, encouraging others to try meatless "meats." He had diverse tastes and enjoyed the theater and museums as much as horror movies and wrestling. He was a drummer in several bands over the years but Charlie's Candy Store was his favorite. Above all, Pete will be remembered for his kindness, his respect for all, his sense of fairness and his refusal to judge anyone. He was deeply loved by mother-in-law Sherry Bailey, sisters-in-law Jess, Becky and Kathleen, brothers-in-law Mike and John, Aunt Kathleen, Aunt Jo, Uncle Justin, cousins Dan, Karen, Mark and Karla, stepfather, Bill Walsh, Aunts Kathy and Mari, Uncles Billy, Jim and Brad, cousins Lisa, Rob, Olivia and Evan and stepmother, Marianna Nolan, and countless friends and co-workers. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 9, 2014, Helweg & Rowland Funeral Home, 1059 Old York Road, Abington. Relatives and friends will be received at Helweg & Rowland Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 from 6:00 - 9:00 PM and on Thursday, October 9, 2014 from 9:00 - 10:45 AM. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Roslyn. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to WAGS Rescue, P.O. Box 1514, Southampton, PA 18966 ( www.wagsresue.com) WAGS is a no-kill animal shelter.
