Obituary of Margaret Hodgman Worrall

Margaret "Peggy" Hodgman Worrall, speech therapist, world traveler, dancer and much loved member of her family, church and community, died at age 92 on June 19, 2010 in Rydal, Pennsylvania. She will be remembered for her generous, lively spirit and great sense of humor. Born March 25, 1918 in Philadelphia, to the late Geneieve Hodgman Worrall and Arthur George Worrall, Peggy graduated from Cheltenham High School in 1935, later attending Marjorie Webster Schools and Blue Ridge College. She graduated from Temple University in 1961 with a B.A. in English and in 1965 with a Masters in Speech Therapy. Peggy was a committed and active member of her community holding the longest continuous membership in Wyncote's All Hallows Episcopal Church, joining in 1930. She was president of Wyncote Players and a member over 70 years. She was a member and President of the Women's Club of Wyncote and a member of Alpha Delta Kappa, an international honorary sorority of women educators. During WWII and the Korean War, Peggy worked for the Red Cross in the US, Germany and Japan. After the wars, she continued her association, receiving Pennsylvania's Golden Heart Award for Outstanding Achievement in 2002. In the 1960's, after working for Strawbridge and Clothiers, she began a career as a speech therapist in Cheltenham School District, retiring in 1984. After retiring, she produced a fashion commentary show for the Associated Services for the Blind. She is survived by her sister, Jean Worrall Roberts Woodward and her husband Bill of Carrollton, TX; nieces Kathy Kellie and her husband, Bill of Camp Hill, PA, Penny Ball and Judy Roberts, both of Addison, TX; nephew, Buz Roberts and his wife, Kate of San Juan Capistrano, CA; grand nieces Jeannie Ball of Pelham, NY, Megan Kellie of Brooklyn, NY, and grand nephew, Bill Kellie of Santa Clarita, CA. A beloved sister, aunt, great aunt, teacher and friend, she will be dearly missed. A memorial service will be held on 10:00 AM on Monday, June 28, 2010 in the Auditorium of Rydal Park, 1515 The Fairway, Jenkintown, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Red Cross, 2221 Chestnut Street, Phila., PA 19103 or All Hallows Episcopal Church, 262 Bent Road, Wyncote, PA 19095.
